Beyond affectedness – partitive objects and degrees of agenthood in Ancient Greek

Abstract In several ancient and modern Indo-European languages, the partitive-genitive may be used in place of accusative to encode second argument two-place verbs. Ancient Greek two types object encoding can alternate with change-of-state verbs, alternation being viewed as connected degrees patient affectedness: encodes partially affected objects.
